Medieval treasure with its heart in the late 1600's with an astonishing and quite beautiful Gaudiesque flow and tilt to its walls caused by age rather than design. Arguably one of the UK's most extraordinary historic buildings, the hospital, guild house, museum and garden are run as a charity with extensive use in film sets including Pride and Prejudice, Tom Jones and Moll Flanders. The museum itself has a fine collection of militaria but it's the combination of the whole from its fine garden and timber framing that makes you feel you can literally reach out and touch history to its grand quirkiness and scale that really makes the Lord Leycster so breathtaking.
